The University of Kentucky College of Nursing, in collaboration with the Center for Research on Violence Against Women (, invites qualified applicants for the full-time (up to 12-month) Cralle-Day Endowed Chair. An innovative partnership with the UK Center for Research on Violence against Women this Chair is intended to support the College of Nursing in playing a prominent role in the nation’s research agenda on the health implications of violence against women and children witnessing or experiencing such violence.

The tenure-track position will report to the Associate Dean of Research and PhD Faculty Affairs in Nursing and actively participate in the interdisciplinary Center for Research on Violence Against Women which has 5 other endowed chairs and professorships related to violence against women and interpersonal violence. Expectations of the position include maintaining an active program of research supported by extramural funding; ongoing record of scholarly productivity including publications and presentations; teaching to include classroom and online instruction; advising and mentoring graduate students; serving on PhD and DNP student advisory committees appropriate to candidate’s expertise; active involvement in university and college committees as well as service to the profession.

Qualifications include a doctor of philosophy (PhD) degree or comparable research-focused doctorate in nursing or related field. Applicants with a nursing degree must be eligible for or hold RN licensure in the state of Kentucky, along with an established strong record of distinguished scholarly work devoted to the empirical study of the impact of interpersonal violence on children/youth, particularly as it relates to violence against women (e.g., the impact of witnessing domestic violence). The applicant must either be at the Associate or Full Professor level or be eligible for hire at an Advanced Associate or Full Professor level.

The ideal candidate will have an established record of extramural research funding and scholarly productivity, including peer reviewed publications and presentations; potential for research collaboration with other faculty members; experience teaching, including online and/or distance learning format; evidence of successful mentorship of doctoral students including student scholarship and the capacity to support the university’s strategic objective of facilitating interdisciplinary research and collaborative scholarship.
