Located five miles from downtown Boston, Tufts University is a Division III member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and the highly-competitive New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC). Tufts students participate in 30 varsity sports, 20 club sports and a number of intramural sports. Tufts Athletics has won ten NCAA team championships since 2010 and has finished in the top 10 of the Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup in each of the last eight years, including a program-best 3rd place finish in 2016-17. Tufts Athletics oversees the Physical Education Department and manages all athletics facilities, including the Steve Tisch Sports & Fitness Center which opened in 2012. This position provides athletic training services to intercollegiate athletes and provides medical support as needed.
Treats and rehabilitates student-athletes to enable return to full activity levels.
Conducts pre-season screening and assessments to identify and prevent injuries.
Administers first aid and emergency techniques; applies tape, bandages, and braces to injuries.
Recommends new or modified care treatment; documents injuries, treatments, referrals and reports.
Assists team physician during clinic hours.
Travels with and/or oversees assigned varsity sports teams.
Other duties as assigned by Director of Sports Medicine / athletics department.
1 year of experience in a collegiate athletic training environment.
Athletic Training Certification (ATC).
Massachusetts state licensure or eligible.
Excellent writing, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Availability to work night and weekend events.
Master’s degree in athletic training or related field.
2 years of experience in a collegiate athletic training environment.
Manual therapy experience.
CPR Instructor Certification.
Special Work Schedule Requirements:
Academic year position, working 44 weeks per year.
