Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
The Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS) Program Director is appointed by and will report to the Dean of the School of Nursing and Allied Health through the Department Head for Allied Health. Applicants must meet the requirements for faculty ranking at the level of assistant, associate, or full professor at Tuskegee University. The CLS Program Director is expected to do the following:

Be responsible for the organization, administration, instruction, evaluation, continuous improvement, curriculum planning and development, directing other program faculty/staff, and general effectiveness of the program
Participate in the budget preparation process
Maintain NAACLS accreditation of the program
Be experienced in regular and consistent contact with students, faculty, program personnel, and in recruitment and retention activities.
Have the capacity to develop new online programs and leverage new initiatives with the TU Office of Distance Education and Online Learning (ODEOL)
Be active in professional activities at local, state, and/or national levels
Be active in clinical practice, especially as applicable to clinical education

Consistent with the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) and Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) standards, the program director must be a medical laboratory professional who meets the following requirements:
Master’s degree in a related field (doctoral degree preferred)
ASCP-BOC or equivalent certification acceptable to NAACLS
Minimum of three full years of teaching experience, including in classroom and online
Have a minimum of 36 hours of continuing professional education documented over the last three years
Knowledge of educational methods and administration as well as current NAACLS accreditation and certification procedures
Outstanding oral and written communication skills; strong personal integrity and enthusiasm
