Auburn University is seeking a dynamic and innovative individual for a tenure track Assistant Professor position with a focus on foodservice management, financial management, food safety, sustainability in food systems, and/or leadership within foodservice operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing a Certified Dietary Manager’s (CDM) program and contribute to the academic community through teaching, research, and service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage a Certified Dietary Manager’s (CDM) program, including advising, curriculum development, online program creation, and maintenance of accreditation requirements.
- Create industry partnerships to support the CDM program enrollment and best practices in foodservice systems, nutrition services, and regulatory compliance.
- Teach courses for the CDM program in addition to undergraduate and graduate courses in food, food systems, and foodservice management.
- Develop and maintain a research agenda, resulting in publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations.
- Secure external funding for research projects.
- Mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students.
- Participate in professional, departmental, college, and university service activities.
- Collaborate with industry partners and community organization to secure practice sites for undergraduate students and create opportunities for the CDM program.
SETTING: The Department of Nutritional Sciences employs 11 faculty members and is affiliated with the College of Human Sciences. The department offers a baccalaureate degree with program options in Nutrition Science, Dietetics, and Wellness, and a master's, and doctoral degree programs in Nutrition. Opportunities to engage in collaborative research include other departments in The College of Human Sciences, Hunger Solutions Institute, The College of Agriculture, Alabama Cooperative Extension System, Auburn University Boshell Diabetes and Metabolic Disease Research Program, East Alabama Health, and the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM).
