Dr. Xuefeng Ren, Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Environmental Health (EEH), School of Public Health and Health Professions (SPHHP), is seeking a Research Scientist to join his research team. Your work will require the theoretical and practical application of a body of highly specialized knowledge. The Research Scientist will work on research projects related to the investigation of epigenetic mechanisms of carcinogenesis using cell lines, animal models, human population-based investigations, ‘omic’ technologies (e.g. transcriptomic RNA-sequencing, proteomics, ChIP-sequencing, methylation array analysis), and state-of-the-art molecular and cell biology techniques.

Examples of the work responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting comprehensive experiments to decipher the epigenomic codes associated with arsenic-induced cell malignant transformation.
  • Leading data analysis activities using biostatistics and bioinformatics tools (e.g. RSEM, PANTHER Gene-Ontology analysis, Ingenuity Pathway Analysis).
  • Collecting research results, presenting research results at scientific meetings and professional conferences, and preparing manuscripts for publication.
  • Coordinating communications with Chinese collaborators to monitor timeline progress of collaborative projects.
  • Assisting the Principal Investigator with preparation of grant proposals.
  • Managing laboratory operations and training of students and staff.

EEH has a long and outstanding record of research, teaching and service in public health, celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2019.
