Lecturer 10 Months
Recreational Therapy - to teach recreational therapy classes and coordinate RT and recreation administration field work, including placement and supervision of students in the field. Specific areas of expertise include leadership and group dynamics, diversity and inclusive recreation, physical disabilities and traumatic brain injury, aging, behavioral health as well as RT interventions and facilitation techniques.
Qualifications: Master’s degree in a related field; a minimum of one year of teaching experience at the post-secondary level; and a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation) is required. At least 2 years of teaching experience and 3 years of practitioner experience in recreational therapy and other appropriate credentials as required by the professional field are preferred.
This is a ten-month, full-time, non-tenure track Lecturer position effective for the Fall 2023 semester. Teaching assignments may be assigned at any of Kean’s New Jersey locations - Union, Ocean, Princeton, Skylands or for Kean Online and may include day, evening and weekend courses. The primary location for this position is at the Union campus. Evening hours are required for teaching graduate course assignments.
Interest or experience in using advanced instructional technologies to improve the teaching/learning process is highly desirable. Proficiency in a Learning Management System is required, consistent with University guidelines.
