Full-time Faculty Position

Nominations and applications are now being accepted for a full-time, twelve-month faculty position within the Department of Occupational Therapy, School of Health Professions, at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Title and Salary: Full-time, 12-month position, at Associate Professor/Professor level. Rank, salary, and tenure status commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications: The primary responsibilities of this position will include the delivery of clinical service, including teaching clinical/practice skills, and service to the University. Outstanding candidates with expertise in the delivery of occupational therapy services in Low Vision Rehabilitation and other pediatric and adult practice-based skills and experience will be considered. Your duties will align with the academic programs conducted within the Department.

Organizationally, the Department of Occupational Therapy is one of five departments in the School of Health Professions (SHP). The department has 13 faculty, including 1 Professor, 3 Associate Professors and 9 Assistant Professors. The department has 4 staff who support specialized areas of the department’s functions – specifically fieldwork, admissions, grant writing/editing and grant management. The department has approximately 240 students enrolled across the different programs. The entry-level professional program is currently ranked #23 nationally and #4 in the southeast states

The School of Health Professions is one of the nation’s largest and most diverse schools of its type with over twenty programs at the baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral levels. The school’s faculty have more NIH funding than any other school of health professions in the country. Total research funding is over $22M, which has placed it in the top two schools of health professions for five decades. SHP is one of six medical-focused schools in a thriving academic health center. UAB is among the highest tier of US research institutions and SHP is currently ranked in the top three for NIH funding for similar schools.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham is one of the nation’s premier research universities. It is currently ranked 15th (top four percent) in the nation among public universities and 31st overall (top four percent) in federally funded research expenditures.
