We invite applications for a non-tenure track faculty position as Academic Fieldwork Co-Coordinator in Occupational Therapy to begin January 2020.

Qualifications. We seek faculty who have experience in coordinating field education and/or teaching in Occupational Therapy. Applicants should have professional experience as licensed occupational therapists and a successful record of teaching in occupational therapy programs. Applicants must have a doctorate, be certified by NBCOT and be eligible for licensure as an occupational therapist in Pennsylvania. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with credentials and experience. Rank is open at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor dependent on qualifications. The Program. Occupational Therapy at Temple is nationally recognized for its educational programs and research, based on the philosophy that humans are occupational beings able to maximize their health and quality of life when engaged in meaningful activity. Our faculty are recognized for leading scholarship in the areas of arts accessibility and inclusion, person-environment interactions, assistive technology, and trauma informed care. There are about 120 students in the MOT and post-professional OTD programs.

The Department of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. We are unlike any other department in the country. Located on a single urban campus in Philadelphia, the Department’s 38 full-time faculty provide instruction in 10 degree programs across all levels of education to approximately 1,300 students. In addition to Occupational Therapy, the Department includes degrees in Health Professions (BS), Athletic Training (MSAT, DAT), Neuromotor Science (MS, PhD), Physical Therapy (DPT), and Recreation Therapy (BS and MS). In addition, the Department offers 2 certificate programs (Health Outcomes and Measurement Science, Post-Professional Certificate in OT) and an Orthopedic PT Residency. Additionally, the Department works closely with other professions including public health, nursing, social work, and communication sciences.

Priority focus areas for the Department include interprofessional education/research, service learning and teaching excellence. Current research emphases are child health outcomes and patient-reported measures of health status for children, physical activity feedback technology for people with disabilities, community access for children with diverse sensory abilities, field-based interventions including recreation for adults with mental health disorders, measurement of environmental interactions for persons with autism spectrum disorders, and the development of devices using virtual environments to manipulate visual input for persons with traumatic brain injuries.

The College. Devoted to an interprofessional environment for academic programming and research, the College of Public Health, a CEPH-accredited school of public health, is a constellation of academic units of public health, social work and health profession disciplines, enrolling about 4,300 students. The College’s research focuses on social, behavioral, and environmental inquiries, medical/health interventions, and basic science and is sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, Department of Defense, and other major funders. The College has recently launched a new Center focused on Community Engaged Research and Practice. We are harnessing the collective energies of our clinical disciplines through an emerging, innovative framework for interprofessional education.

The University. Temple is an urban, research-intensive Carnegie R1 university located in historic and culturally rich Philadelphia, the nation’s 6th largest city.
