Assistant Professor – Weill Cornell Medicine
Weill Cornell Medicine, Department of Radiology has a position available for an Assistant Professor with expertise in Research Biostatistics in its Dalio Institute of Cardiovascular Imaging (ICI). The Institute is comprised of faculty, researchers and students from the fields of cardiology, radiology, epidemiology, engineering and computer science. The Dalio ICI is under the guidance of Dr. James K. Min. This position will work within the Clinical Research Outcomes group of the ICI under the direction of Dr. Shaw, Professor of Health Services Research in Radiology.
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who will perform clinical and health services research by conducting statistical analysis for a variety of projects. This position will contribute to the advancement of research both scientifically and statistically in a multidisciplinary research team.
Scientifically, this position will assist faculty and research investigators in the development of study design, evaluation tools and methods associated with various projects.
Statistically, this position will be expected to collaborate and advise faculty on most appropriate statistical design, sample size calculations, and analytical approaches to apply to research design and outcomes analysis. Most commonly performed are survival and other diverse regression modeling approaches, repeated measure analysis; and net reclassification improvement approaches.
The candidate should be capable of aiding in database design and management, including data cleaning and statistical methods approaches for missing data. Performs database cleaning and final locking for all study data is required. Moreover, data documentation of database variables and periodic updates are required. Oversight of all assigned statistical analyses and review of scientific abstracts and manuscripts is required.
Analyzes health care data and health care claims data using basic and advanced statistical methodologies, interprets results for investigators, and prepares reports.
Performs sample size and power calculations, assist in the development of randomization schedules. Writes methods sections and analysis plans for incorporation into protocols, abstracts, manuscripts, and grants.
Writes program code to analyze data using statistical analysis software. Develops and implements data analysis algorithms.
Prepares statistical data for inclusion in reports to data monitoring committees, federal regulatory agencies, and study sponsors (federal and non-federal). Draws conclusions or make predictions based on data summaries or statistical analysis.
Responsible for accuracy and timeliness of statistical input into reports and decisions. Identifies and corrects flaws in interpretation of results, inconsistency in presentation or inference.
Makes recommendations for appropriate statistical analyses to investigators and study team.
Responsible for data processing for accurate relocation, formatting, generating and transmitting data.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Must possess at minimum a PhD degree or equivalent in statistics, preferably biostatistics, with a minimum of 3 years biostatical consulting experience is required, ideally within an academic environment
Expertise in statistical software such as SAS and R and working knowledge of data management software such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access.
Strong skills in health services research design, database development and management, and statistical programming required.
Ability to read, write, and interpret the English language.
Ability to clearly communicate statistical concepts to other scientists and non-scientists
Skill and Abilities
Solid understanding of data management methodology.
Track record of excellent organization skills, time management skills, excellent writing skills, the ability to manage several concurrent tasks and meet competing deadlines.
Track record of strong attention to detail in high-pressure situations. Must be able to work in a fast-paced, highly dynamic environment.
Must have experience in health services research methodology and command advanced knowledge of statistical techniques of healthcare outcomes analysis.
Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and highly collaborative team. Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently based on the PI’s priorities, and collaborate effectively with people at all levels.
