The Texas A&M University College of Nursing is accepting applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure‐track). The position is a full‐time, 9‐month appointment beginning the spring semester 2021. We are a growing college located in Bryan, Texas; other locations include Lufkin, McAllen, and Round Rock. The College of Nursing offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, MSN‐Family Nurse Practitioner, MSN‐Education, and MSN‐Forensic Nursing degree programs. Future plans include DNP and PhD programs.
This is a research‐intensive position at a Tier One research university. The position is located at our Bryan campus. Consideration will be given to applicants with an excellent research and teaching record. Candidates are expected to continue their program of research and seek external funding. Teaching and mentoring of students are also expected. The role will contribute to the growing research, scholarship and outreach of the college.
Job Responsibilities 45% Research: Research responsibilities include securing external funding to support research in one or more of the following key areas: rural health promotion, primary care access, behavioral health, trauma and violence intervention, and/or chronic disease self‐management. Applications are encouraged from individuals pursuing a research trajectory investigating biologic/physiologic parameters. 45% Teaching: Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and graduate coursework and student mentorship. 10% Service: Service expectations include internal contributions (i.e., department, college, university) and external visibility at state and national/international levels.
Required Education: A terminal degree in nursing (DNP or PhD) or related field is required. At least one graduate degree must be in nursing. Required Experience: Experience teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level is required and a strong record of scholarly work including external funding. Post‐doctoral experience or training will enhance consideration of the applicant. Must be qualified for appointment at the Assistant Professor rank. Required Registrations, Certifications and Licenses: Candidate must be eligible for a Texas RN license.
