Description

The Pre-College Program within University College at Tufts University is seeking a part-time instructor in the field of Biomedical Sciences to teach the following course in the Summer II 2023 session: CSS 0090 Health Science Honors. The Health Science Honors course, which has been offered to pre-college students for several years, gives  students the rare opportunity to learn how doctors think about their patients' problems and make clinical decisions on their behalf. Also, students will gauge the success of their interventions through lectures, interactions with physicians and practitioners, and visits to area hospitals and medical laboratories.

This course will meet for 3.5 hour sessions, twice per week. As a reference, the schedule for Summer 2022 was July 5- August 9th; M, W; 1:30pm - 5:00pm. It is open to rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. It is recommended that students have completed at least one year of biology. It will be taught in person on Tufts’ Medford campus, with virtual students logging on simultaneously via Zoom. The course has a target enrollment of 15-30.   Ref: Course Web Pages (1) and (2) .

Qualifications

M.D from an accredited medical school, or current medical student with expected year of graduation 2023. Previous related teaching experience is required, preferably at the college level.
