Summary:

Utah Valley University in beautiful Orem, Utah, is seeking to hire a Director of Clinical Education immediately for its new Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program with a tentative start date of January, 2020 (pending provisional ARC-PA accreditation). The ideal candidate will be an integral part of the leadership team that will guide the program through accreditation, and more critically, the clinical practice site development process that will ensure that the clinical experiences will meet/exceed the competencies required for physician assistant clinical practice.

Under the direction of the PA Program Director, the Director of Clinical Education has the overall responsibiilty for clinical education in the program to include site development, affiliation agreements, orientation, student scheduling, site maintenance visits, coordination of ongoing preceptor development and training strategies, and assessment of the clinical phase of the curriculum. The Clinical Director will be actively involved in continuous program review and analysis, strategic planning, admissions and in national and state PA organizations to promote the program.

Required Qualifications:

Graduate degree in business, leadership or education or related field (Health Care preferred).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of health care industry.
  • Knowledge of accreditation processes.
  • Knowledge of higher education academic programming.
  • Effective communication skills for public speaking, verbal and written correspondence.
  • Leadership and management skills.
  • Relationship building skills.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population of students, health care professionals, faculty, staff and other community stakeholders.
  • Ability to represent the PA program at all levels nationally, state, and local.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with marketing and communications and student affairs.


Preferred Qualifications:

Graduate degree in Physician Assistant Practice/Studies.
Current NCCPA Certification.
PA license.
Three to five (3-5) years of experience working with industry, contracts, healthcare organizations, volunteer or internship programs, community groups, or public entities.

Physical Requirements:

Generally sitting, walking, hearing, talking, seeing, fine hand manipulation and standing.
