The Department of Physical Therapy Education at Upstate Medical University invites applications from qualified candidates to join our faculty in a full-time, 24 month, post-doctoral fellowship position. Ideal candidates will have an academic doctorate degree (PhD, Ed.D, DSc), a developing scholarly agenda and a strong interest in pediatrics. Candidates nearing the completion of their academic doctorate (ABD) are encouraged to apply. Candidates with a clinical doctorate (DPT or OTD) and pediatric (PCS) or neurologic (NCS) clinical specialization (obtained or in progress) will also be considered.
The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with pediatric faculty on both established and new scholarly projects. The focus of current projects is on the promotion of optimal infant development, physical activity levels, and body composition. New projects will focus on improving function in older children with hemiparesis and on the impact of prenatal interventions on both maternal and infant outcomes. Within the department, there are additional opportunities to be involved with physical activity monitoring, neuroimaging and motion analysis. The ideal candidate will actively participate in all aspects of scholarly work including planning, grant submission, data collection, data analyses, preparation of abstracts and manuscripts, and presentation of all phases of work. Support will be available for the candidate to pursue their own funding and project as well.
Review of applications is ongoing in an effort to find an ideal fit between candidate and pediatric faculty. Applications should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and the names and contact information of three references. To apply or get more information please contact Erin Wentz, PT, PhD, PCS at firstname.lastname@example.org.
