Located in Boston's historic Fenway area, Simmons has a strong tradition of empowering women and of challenging traditional gender roles. Job Summary: The Undergraduate Nursing Program at Simmons University is seeking applicants for a full time Boston-based 10-month faculty position, to begin in Fall 2022. Depending on the candidate's experience and professional goals, we offer several different possibilities for faculty rank and track, including tenure track, teaching track, and practice track.
The faculty member will have the opportunity to teach courses in the undergraduate nursing program. Potential courses include, but are not limited to, NURS-295: Fundamental Skills and Health Assessment, and NURS-331: Pharmacology. The faculty member is expected to advise and mentor undergraduate nursing students, participate in curriculum development, and actively engage in service to the Simmons community. For tenure-track appointments, faculty will be required to conduct and publish scholarly research that involves the advancement of nursing practice and the profession of nursing.
Simmons Undergraduate Nursing program is seeking candidates with a demonstrated commitment to clinical and academic excellence. While a doctoral degree in nursing is preferred, applicants with an MS in Nursing and at least 5 years of relevant experience will also be considered for a practice-track appointment. A terminal degree in Nursing from an accredited program and at least 5 years of relevant professional experience is required for teaching track and tenure-track consideration. Additionally, an active stream of relevant research and publications is preferable for tenure-track candidates. Previous teaching at the college level is preferable, though applicants seeking to begin a career in higher education should also consider this opportunity. Applicants are required to hold and maintain a current unencumbered Registered Nurse License in Massachusetts.
