Overview
The mission of the USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University (HNRCA) is to promote healthy aging through nutrition science to empower people seeking to enjoy long, active, and independent lives. HNRCA investigators examine how nutrition and physical activity play a role in the prevention of the major chronic degenerative conditions and diseases associated with aging.
What You'll Do
This is a one-year limited-term position with an end date of September 30, 2024. This is a grant funded position and is not eligible for severance pay.
Working in collaboration with the senior investigator in the host laboratory, the Senior Research Associate leads or substantially contributes to a research program that aligns with the HNRCA’s mission and research priorities. The Senior Research Associate contributes ideas to the research effort, operates independently, and publishes papers in collaboration with the senior investigator. This individual may have other responsibilities in the laboratory, such as supervision of staff, training of graduate students or postdoctoral fellows, grant proposal writing, etc. This is a one-year, non-renewable, grant-funded position.
Essential Functions:
- Performs scientific research as a professionally responsible member of the research team. Carries out independent research and may lead a portion of the project. Responsible for problem exploration and definition, planning of the approach and sequence of steps, execution of experiments or studies, interpretation of findings, and documentation of results; may lead others in these efforts. Keeps current with developments in the scientific field.
- Publishes results and authors papers in collaboration with the senior investigator. May present findings at meetings.
- Participates in other laboratory responsibilities, such as grant proposal development, supervision and/or training of research technicians, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows, etc.
What We're Looking For
Basic Requirements:
- 3-5 years’ experience in a Research Associate position
- PhD, MD, DVM, DDS, DMD or equivalent Doctoral degree
