The Buffalo Educational Opportunity Center (BEOC) invites candidates who can enthusiastically inspire and engage students as an Adjunct Instructor for the Allied Health Central Sterilization Technician Program. The Adjunct Instructor provides comprehensive classroom instruction regarding the competencies as it relates to the cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of medical equipment, manages the educational activities of the program and all students, classes and labs for the program, and is responsible for agency regulations as well as all program policies and procedures including those stated in the catalog or available internally on the BEOC’s webpage. Candidates should have the ability to teach seated, remote, and online courses.

Academic Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
  • Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of subject matter and maintains knowledge by participating in professional development opportunities to ensure the curriculum remains relevant.
  • Prepares and teaches courses as assigned within the Allied Health Programs.
  • Assists with activities of the Allied Health Programs including curriculum, facilities, equipment, students’ applications, program promotion, Advisory Board, externship partnerships and placements, and compliance with national accrediting agencies.
  • Assists the Instructional Services Unit in identifying process improvement initiatives including budgets regarding health-related programs.
  • Conducts Allied Health student interviews, ensures compliance with program prerequisites, and assists with Student Orientation.
  • Assists with Allied Health events both internal and external.
  • Provides hands-on clinical training as it relates to the central sterilization competencies.
  • Collaborates with the Instructional Services Unit regarding student retention, program enrollment, and program completion.
  • Works effectively with supervisors, colleagues, staff, and students as part of an education team that is dedicated to creating an environment conducive to meeting the students’ learning needs.
  • Ensures integrity, accuracy, and efficiency of academic activities including classrooms, labs, and externships.
  • Collaborates with the Instructional Services Unit on the implementation of externships and ensures that all students receive appropriate and sufficient experience.
  • Enters grades and attendance into BANNER.
  • Prepares students to take the National Central Sterilization Certification Exam
  • Provides hands-on assessment regarding the cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of patient equipment.
  • Engages in the classroom, replies to emails and voicemails, and holds on-campus or online office hours.
  • Evaluates students’ performance and provides effective and timely feedback to guide student learning and success.
  • Ability to conduct research or service in support of the mission and vision of the Buffalo EOC.
  • Delivers tests and certifications following all procedures.
  • Assists with the National Certification Testing application process.
