Adjunct Faculty at SONHP, Clinical Preceptor - HRSA ANEW Grant
The University of San Francisco's School of Nursing and Health Professions received a grant from HRSA to Develop, implement, evaluate, and improve immersive Nurse Practitioner clinical practice in partner organizations and other rural/medically underserved community health care facilities in Northern and Central California. This project has a particular focus on mental health, opioid and other substance use disorders, and childhood obesity within rural communities and training new Nurse Practitioners who will be able to integrate mental health services into their primary care practice.

The School of Nursing and Health Professions at the University of San Francisco invites applications for part-time faculty positions in Nurse Practitioner Programs, Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. The School has a rigorous, high-quality Doctor of Nursing Practice program that prepares graduates for careers as, Family Nurse Practitioners and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners. The program has post-baccalaureate and post-Master's options that prepare APRN graduates for population health leadership roles. Post-doctoral certificates in the FNP and PMHNP tracks are also offered. Our talented students come from diverse backgrounds.
Programming for the DNP-FNP and DNP-PMHNP tracks are offered in through hybrid delivery, more than 50% of which is online. Intensives are offered at the SF Hilltop campus and classes may be held at other locations as well. DNP-FNP and DNP-PMHNP graduates fill critical primary care and leadership roles in the service of vulnerable populations.
The Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at USF was the first DNP program in California. The programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and approved by the Board of Registered Nursing (BRN).
Successful candidates are expected to engage in classroom and clinical teaching that will contribute to the university and profession.
NP preceptors will collaborate on the design, implementation and evaluation of NP training materials, including participation in one distance accessible simulated clinical conference each semester focused on culturally competent behavioral health interventions including SUD particularly OUD, other mental health issues, and childhood obesity.
Clinical conference activities will be conducted on Friday afternoons and will include both PMHNP and FNP trainees and preceptors. Clinical conference activities will be recorded and archived for later access.
Simulated clinical conference activities will include simulations on preceptor and NP trainee clinical practice interactions as a venue to improve preceptor skill and confidence and NP trainee clinical performance.
A masters degree or higher in nursing or related area is required
. Upon hire, the faculty member must be licensed as a registered nurse in California, have a California NP certificate and national NP certification. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and scholarship, experience and willingness to work in a culturally diverse environment and an understanding of and commitment to support the mission of the University.
