Job Summary/Basic Function:The Department of Kinesiology, Health Promotion and Recreation (KHPR) invites applications for a full-time tenured/tenure-track faculty position within the Recreation, Event, and Sport Management (RESM) program starting in Fall 2020. We are seeking applicants with active research agendas, preferably focused on socio-cultural or psychosocial aspects of recreation and sport, to contribute to the department’s and program’s research profile. The appointed candidate will be expected to teach two courses per semester and play an integral role in departmental and program initiatives at both the main campus in Denton and at the Frisco campus location. The University of North Texas is a Tier One Research University in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, the fourth-largest metropolitan area in the United States. The Department of Kinesiology, Health Promotion and Recreation has over 1,500 undergraduate majors and 100 graduate students across several specializations. The Recreation, Event, and Sport Management program has approximately 300 undergraduate and 50 graduate majors. The program actively engages with sport teams, events, and communities. Some collaborators include: Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Sport Commission, FC Dallas, Octagon Sports & Entertainment, Texas Motor Speedway, Texas Rangers, along with numerous municipal, state, and federal parks and recreation agencies, collegiate athletic programs, and non-profit recreation and sport organizations.

Minimum Qualifications:- PhD (or equivalent) in Recreation Management, Leisure Studies, Sport Management, or related field at time of appointment.
- Focused and active research agenda as evidenced by publications in high quality journal outlets and potential for extramural funding.
- Evidence of successful teaching at university/college level in recreation, leisure, or sport management areas.
- Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse student populations and maintaining an inclusive organizational culture.

Preferred Qualifications:- Research focusing on socio-cultural or psychosocial aspects of recreation and sport for underrepresented groups.
- Professional experience working within recreation and sport organizations.
- Experience successfully developing and delivering online and/or hybrid courses.
