Primary Responsibility: The founding Program Director for Master of Science Clinical Nutrition (MSCN) will be responsible for the attainment of accreditation from Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). This position is responsible for program organization, administration, fiscal management, ongoing review and assessment and planning and development. This is a twelve-month non-tenure track faculty appointment.

Essential Functions: Directs the planning, development, and implementation and administration of the Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition Program.

  • Responsible for the academic quality of the program
  • Provide leadership for specialized accreditation and university regional accreditation.
    Attain and maintain ACEND accreditation status including timely submission of annual
    report, program fees, students’ verification process and other reports as requested
  • Recruit faculty as needed to meet the needs of the program and curriculum
  • Coordinate student admissions processes, including collaboration with the Graduate
    School office of admissions and enrollment services
  • Participate in student recruitment, advisement, evaluation and counseling
  • Plan and conduct formal meetings
  • Supervise MSCN program faculty, monitoring workloads and performance
  • Teach required courses in the curriculum in areas of expertise
  • Coordinates and supports inter-professional education between the program and other
    disciplines at Pacific
  • Uses innovative instruction and technology in the development and delivery of the
  • Plan, develop, and evaluate all courses and the overall curriculum
  • Develop policies and procedures for effectively managing all components of the program
    in accordance with the University’s policies and procedures, including program
    admissions, retention, and completion to ensure fair, equitable, and considerable
    treatment of prospective and enrolled students
  • Review and evaluate survey data from course and instructor evaluations, graduate exit
    interviews, alumni surveys, and employer surveys to ensure student outcomes and goals
    are achieved
  • Oversee and implement the Student Learning Assessment Plan based upon survey
  • Maintain communication and coordination of the program with the faculty, clinical
    preceptors, and all individuals or disciplines involved with the program
  • Maintenance of records and complaints about the program received from students or
    others, including the disposition of the complaint and resolution
  • Oversee budget and manage program resources ethically and responsible in accordance
    with University policy
  • Serve on Committees and taskforces as requested by the dean
  • Serve on national committees
  • Represents the program to the community and healthcare organizations
  • With support of the Dean, develops and maintains an advisory board for the program
  • Actively work on scholarship activities
  • Works with the dean and institutional advancement and collaborates with the Office of
    the Provost, development teams and other departments to enhance corporate, employer,
    alumni, and other stakeholder relationships, thereby developing additional resource
  • Assist in other related areas as requested by the dean.


  • Credentialed as a registered dietitian nutritionist by the Commission on Dietetic
    Registration and licensed by the State of California
  • An earned doctoral degree (preferred)
  • Three years professional experience post credentialing
  • Three years academic experience as a faculty member in a MSCN graduate program
    accredited by ACEND

Skills/Knowledge and Expertise

  • Knowledge of state, federal and local laws/regulation relating to program compliance and
    other regulatory standards such as Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and
    Dietetics (ACEND) and other accreditation standards.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and sensitivity to academic and personnel issues
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven organizational ability
  • Ability to mentor personnel
  • Positive attitude, proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations and
    demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion
