The Department of Biological Sciences in the College of Engineering and Sciences (CES) at Purdue University Northwest (PNW) in Hammond and Westville, Indiana, invites applications for a Lecturer in Health Studies position starting August 16, 2021. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses related to public health, healthcare administration, and healthcare informatics.

College of Engineering and Sciences serves over 1,200 undergraduate students and 150 graduate students across a wide range of academic programs. In addition to the Department of Biological Sciences, the college includes: a Department of Chemistry and Physics; a Department of Mathematics and Statistics; and a School of Engineering with a Department of Computer Sciences; a Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and a Department of Mechanical and Civil Engineering. The college also contains three distinguished and award-winning research centers, which include: Center for Innovations through Visualization and Simulation (CIVS), Energy Efficiency and Reliability Center (EERC), and Water Institute.

Qualifications

  • Applicants should have an earned master’s degree or doctorate in Public Health, Health Studies, or a related discipline.
  • Documented university teaching experience and a strong commitment to excellence in the classroom in a wide variety of courses.

Responsibilities

  • The Lecturer will teach courses that contribute to the core requirements for the Health Studies degree as well as more advanced courses in health related subjects.
  • The successful candidate will be involved in curriculum development and outreach activities.
