The Department of Kinesiology, Health Promotion and Recreation (KHPR) invites applications for a full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty position Sport Nutrition and Health within the Kinesiology program starting in Fall 2020. Depending on experience and qualifications, the position may be at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. This faculty member will conduct research and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Sport Nutrition, Metabolism, Exercise and Health, Exercise Physiology, and other related areas within Kinesiology. It is expected that the individual will maintain an active research agenda evidenced by funded external grants and publications in any area of sport nutrition. Applicants for the position of Assistant Professor shall demonstrate potential for significant grant funding; applicants for the rank of Associate Professor shall demonstrate continuing success in grant writing and obtaining grant funding. It is expected that the successful applicant will be able to collaborate with, complement, and expand ongoing research in the department. Typical teaching load is two organized courses in each of the long semesters; optional summer teaching assignments are usually available. Faculty are expected to mentor Undergraduate and Master’s students in Kinesiology and students seeking a PhD in Biology with a concentration in Exercise Physiology.

The Department of Kinesiology, Health Promotion and Recreation has over 1,200 undergraduate and 70 graduate students majoring in Kinesiology across several specializations. The Kinesiology faculty actively participates in collaborative PhD programs in Biological Sciences and in Educational Psychology. The Department of Kinesiology, Health promotion and Recreation includes 750 m2 of state-of-the-art facilities for the measurement of bioanalytical outcomes following various exercise or nutritional interventions (Applied Physiology Lab) as well as laboratories for assessment of psycho-social and physical education outcomes.
