Assistant Professor Tenure-Track, Nutrition, Department of Nutrition and Food Studies
New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in Nutrition and Dietetics to begin in September 2020. The appointed faculty member will be part of the Department of Nutrition and Food Studies. Position Description: Steinhardt seeks an entry-level, assistant professor with a clearly-articulated research profile, teaching agenda, and practice and research experience in community nutrition or nutrition/behavioral education and interventions. The candidate will support our accredited didactic program in dietetics, the dietetic internship, Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition, and PhD in Nutrition and Dietetics. Potential areas of research interest include maternal and child nutrition, nutrition during other stages of the lifecycle, and nutrition needs of multicultural and underserved populations. Areas of interest should complement the existing faculty in the Department of Nutrition and Food Studies and expand interdisciplinary collaboration in the Steinhardt School and the larger NYU community.
Responsibilities: Conduct an active program of research including publications and extramural funding; teach, advise, and mentor students at all levels of the department’s curriculum, including master’s, doctoral, and undergraduate courses of interest to a wide range of students; supervise student research; participate in department program development and program/department/school-level committees; and provide other service to the University. Collaborate with other School or University faculty and community members.
Qualifications: Earned doctorate in nutrition or a related field required. Registered Dietitians (RD) are encouraged to apply. Should have a strong record of potential for publication, research, and external funding; experience with conducting applied or clinical nutrition research; commitment to teaching, advising, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
