The Health Sciences Scholars Program develops and supports a community of high-ability undergraduate students interested in health-related majors and careers. This is done through opportunities to explore interest areas, learn about career options, and serve together at Ohio State and beyond. The Health Sciences Scholars Program is open to students of all majors.


Job Duties:

Develops and manages curricular and co-curricular activities for the Health Sciences Scholars (HSS) Program, in collaboration with the Honors & Scholars Center Leadership; serves as the primary creator and developer for all aspects of the Scholars program; develops, manages, and facilitates academic, professional, social, and/or service programs; provides communication, marketing and outreach to scholars students and OSU community; designs and teaches section(s) of Health Sciences focused seminar course taken by first year students during the fall semester of the first year;  facilitates and organizes small group and whole class discussions on topics and issues relating to science and health care broadly, key university resources, and transitioning to campus; oversees and trains student leaders in the program; works directly with students to develop their professional, academic,  and/or personal goals; connects students with faculty, staff, graduate students, and alumni of the program for professional development opportunities; supports and provides feedback on various opportunities, including internships, jobs, graduate school, and competitive fellowships and scholarships; writes recommendation letters upon request; facilitates community building of students in the program; holds regular office hours; creates and delivers outreach and engagement opportunities for Health Sciences Scholars to engage with the broader community; monitors academic standing and Scholars participation; refers students to other offices and services as appropriate (both on and off campus); directs the recruitment of incoming freshmen Scholars in collaboration with the Honors & Scholars Center; participates in university sponsored Scholars Program recruitment activities; collaborates with other Scholars Programs on  a regular basis to deliver co-curricular programming; works closely with offices across campus, including but not limited to: Honors & Scholars Center, Student Activities, University Housing, Undergraduate Admissions and colleges and departments related to the health sciences field; develops and manages program budget, determines spending priorities and handles purchases; maintains training on all relevant institutional policies.


Additional responsibilities may include:

Serving university-wide, and/or Office of Academic Enrichment (OAE) committees and workgroups. Duties as assigned by the Scholars Program Director to support the University Honors & Scholars Center and the Ohio State Scholars Program, which may include administrative, assessment, or student engagement responsibilities. Weekends and evenings required.


Minimum Education Required

Master's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Required Qualifications

A Master's degree in an appropriate field or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience in program planning and administration is required.


Additional Information:

The pay range for this job profile is $42,700 - $56,900. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
