The Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion within the College of Education at the University of Kentucky is seeking candidates for an advanced assistant or associate professor position (tenure eligible) in Health Promotion, effective August 16, 2021. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities: Pursue excellence in teaching, research, and service. Successful candidates will be expected to serve as undergraduate Health Promotion Program Chair and teach graduate and/or undergraduate health promotion courses. Courses taught may include undergraduate courses in Planning and Implementing School Health Programs, Health Education in the Elementary School, Advanced Health Concepts, Community Organizing in Health Promotion, and Program Evaluation. Possible graduate courses might include Foundations of Health Promotion, Behavior Change, Program Planning, Health Coaching, or other graduate courses as assigned.

The candidate would also be expected to develop and maintain an active research agenda that ties in community-engaged health, particularly health disparities and equity, and hands-on opportunities for students, particularly linguistically and culturally diverse students; seek extramural funding; advise masters and doctoral students in the health promotion program; provide support for the undergraduate health promotion teacher education program as well as the non-teacher certified health promotion major and minor programs; and support school and community partnerships.

Qualifications: Earned doctorate in health promotion or health education or appropriate specialization. Preference will be given to those with previous experience in college teaching, student advising, research, grant writing, K-12 teaching or school partnerships, professional service, and experience and research in culturally and linguistically diverse communities. CHES certification is desirable.
