Clinical Assistant Professor of Communicative Sciences and Disorders, Non-Tenure Track
New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development invites applications for two non-tenure Clinical Assistant Professor positions in the Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders, both to begin in September 2020. POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders (CSD) is going through an exciting period of growth in academic offerings and in increased research productivity. The department grants undergraduate, master’s (through both residential and distance learning modalities), and doctoral degrees, and has a state-of-the-art in-house Speech-Language-Hearing clinic, study abroad opportunities, and an exciting new Bilingual Extension Program. We are seeking candidates who can augment and extend the current strengths of the department, who have experience with under-served communities, and who have a strong track-record of teaching experience. For one of the positions, we are particularly interested in candidates who can support and grow the Bilingual Extension Program.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidates will work with program faculty to facilitate training for graduate students in the Communicative Sciences MS program, as well as in the Undergraduate program. The successful candidates will teach courses both in our on-campus residential and distance education modalities, participate in faculty meetings, serve on department, school and/or university committees, and/or supervise student clinicians in our on-campus clinic.
QUALIFICATIONS: A doctoral or master’s degree in Communicative Sciences and Disorders, Speech and Hearing Sciences, Audiology, or equivalent, and a demonstrated strong track record of teaching. Certification by ASHA (CCC-SLP or CCC-A) is required. For one position, we are seeking an individual who holds a Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities with Bilingual Extension (TSSLD-BE) Certificate and has experience working with aspects of bilingualism in the field of speech-language pathology, including assessment, treatment, and prevention services.
