The University at Buffalo School of Nursing (SON) invites applicants for a Family Nurse Practitioner Clinical Faculty position. This is a full time (12 month) appointment to teach in the SON in both the undergraduate and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) FNP programs. Responsibilities include classroom and online didactic teaching, mentoring, supervising, and evaluating students in clinical and simulated learning environments. Responsibilities also include planning, developing and implementing evidence-based, innovative, and interactive learning experiences for the adult learner across classroom and clinical learning environments for undergraduate and post-masters (DNP), post-masters certificate, and doctor of nursing practice (DNP) students.

  • Maintains clinical nursing expertise and adheres to ethical and professional nursing standards of practice.
  • Complies with State, University, Clinical Agency, and professional regulations/requirements.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, across the spectrum with students, faculty, and interdisciplinary roles.
  • Collaborates with faculty to plan, design, implement, and lead classroom, laboratory/simulated, and community practical student learning experiences.
  • Establishes collaborative and positive working relationships that respect the dignity, worth, and culture of students, faculty, staff, colleagues, peers, patients, families, communities, agency nurse managers, and interdisciplinary agency teams and staff. Participates in agency/organizational/unit orientations.
  • Serves as a professional role model and mentor to facilitate and ensure the planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning experiences.
  • Assists students with the transfer, utilization, and synthesis of knowledge into current learning activities and practical experiences through establishment of physical and emotional environments conducive to effective teaching and learning.
  • Establishes early intervention/remediation through specific written guidance and referral for activities to facilitate academic success in students demonstrating unsafe advanced nursing practice and/or who lack clinical preparation.
