As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. 

The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an industry innovation research project where you will be part of the research team to investigate the service needs of people with vision impairment for physical activity participation; as well as to co-design resources related to this.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met.

  • Undertake these responsibilities in the project:
    1. Liaise with research participants, members of the research team and other professionals
    2. Assist with data collection in the field, data processing, data entry and data analysis
    3. Maintain accurate records of data collected, safeguarding the confidentiality of participants, as necessary
    4. Manage administrative tasks related to the research projects e.g. coordinating meetings, scheduling research tasks, requesting for information etc
    5. Conduct literature reviews
    6. Assist in preparation of research reports, findings and presentations to stakeholders
    7. Coordinate and attend project meetings, monitor the project budget and work on other projects and initiatives, as required.
    8. Prepare, maintain, and update website materials.
    9. Prepare and write manuscripts for publications with the research team
  • Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations.
  • Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers.
  • Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of research equipment.

Job Requirements

  • Have relevant competence in the areas of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Proficiency in Mandarin/Chinese will be advantageous as some communication with participants in Mandarin may be required.
  • A good degree in relevant discipline (e.g. occupational therapy, physiotherapy, psychology, public health, geriatrics, gerontology, medicine, allied health, nursing etc). Possessing a Master’s degree will be advantageous.
  • Candidates with a non-healthcare degree are welcome to apply.
  • Knowledge of research related software such as NVivo, Endnote, SPSS will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Generative AI such as copilot will be an advantage.
