Clinical Assistant Professor and Academic Fieldwork Coordinator in the Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program

The Occupational Therapy Program in the Department of Rehabilitation and Movement Science at the University of Vermont (UVM) invites applications for a full time, Academic Fieldwork Coordinator, 9-month clinical faculty position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor to begin in August, 2021.

Successful candidates must be an occupational therapist with at least 2 years of clinical practice experience as an occupational therapist, be licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Vermont, and hold a doctoral degree awarded by an institution that is accredited by a USDE-recognized institutional accrediting agency. Administrative responsibilities for this position include creating the fieldwork program so that it complies with Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education standards, working with the EXXAT system to streamline the fieldwork process, establishing Memoranda of Understanding for clinical rotation sites, and managing all aspects of the fieldwork process. Responsibilities for this position also include teaching, developing scholarship, and performing service and clinical practice to support and advance the missions of the department, college, and university.

Preference will be given to candidates who have a record of

  • Experience as an Academic Fieldwork Coordinator
  • Successful teaching, or potential for outstanding teaching, at the college level and/or related field experience
  • Advising students
  • Building successful partnerships with community agencies
  • Promoting and engaging in practices that support student engagement and active learning
  • Collaborating with university faculty and the community of practice.

The ideal candidate will have clinical experience in the area of pediatrics, adult rehabilitation, and/or mental health. The UVM entry-level Occupational Therapy Doctorate program is a developing program; thus, candidates with flexible and creative thinking are desired.

The UVM Entry-Level Doctorate in Occupational Therapy program is currently in the candidacy phase of accreditation. It is designed with a strong experiential learning component that blends the art and science of the occupational therapy profession. It is an integral component of the Department of Rehabilitation and Movement Science in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. The College provides an exciting academic environment with excellent collaborative relationship potentials for new faculty as it is uniquely positioned on the UVM main campus, alongside our academic colleagues in Medicine, Nursing, Physical Therapy, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Engineering, Health Sciences, and Nutrition as well as our clinical colleagues in the UVM Medical Center.
