THE OPPORTUNITY

The clinical psychologist of the Ocean Park Clinic and VinUni student clinic will work closely with CHS faculty and staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality, holistic mental healthcare services while supporting the educational objectives of our medical trainees who will be rotating in both clinics. This role involves direct clinical work, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide range of psychological issues. The ideal candidate will be deeply committed to promoting mental health and well-being across the university, contributing to a supportive and resilient campus environment. This position requires expertise in evidence-based therapeutic interventions and a passion for mental health advocacy and education.

The incumbent should have extensive experience in psychological counseling, well-being services, mental health crisis management, preferably in an educational institution setting. This role will report directly to the Clinic Medical Director of CHS and will be 1.0 FTE.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Clinical Services: Provide psychological evaluations, individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, and referral services. Develop and implement treatment plans for patients with a wide range of psychological conditions.
  • Outreach and Education: Design and deliver workshops, seminars, and other programs on topics related to mental health, stress management, resilience, and wellness for the university community.
  • Consultation: Serve as a consultant to faculty, administrators, and staff on mental health issues affecting the university community. Offer guidance on creating a supportive learning and working environment.
  • Crisis Management: Respond to psychological emergencies and critical incidents on campus. Participate in the university’s crisis response team as needed.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other health professionals in the clinic, as well as with academic departments, to coordinate comprehensive care and support for individuals.
  • Research and Evaluation: Engage in research activities related to campus mental health issues and evaluate the effectiveness of mental health programs and interventions.
  • Advocacy: Advocate for mental health awareness and the reduction of stigma associated with seeking psychological help within the university setting.

COMPENSATION

The salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

 

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Doctoral or master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Valid license to practice as a Clinical Psychologist.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing psychological services to adolescents and adults, preferably in a university setting.
  • Strong foundation in various therapeutic modalities, including but not limited to CBT, DBT, and mindfulness-based interventions.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse population.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to ethical standards in psychology.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience. Excellent organizational skills, with experience prioritizing work in a fast-paced environment with multiple and conflicting interests.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, understand and follow policies and procedures, and accommodate change. Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively on a team.
  • The position requires good judgment, rigorous attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive/confidential information with discretion.

 

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY

English is the language of teaching and communication at VinUniversity. For this role, the candidate needs to have an excellent written and verbal communication skill in English.

 

LIVING AND WORKING IN HANOI, VIETNAM

  • Work permit: VinUniversity will assist in and provide advice for obtaining the necessary paperwork needed for employment in Vietnam (visa, work permit, insurance, etc.). However, it is your responsibility to ensure that you can satisfy all the paper requirements in a timely manner.
