The College of Public Health is seeking a tenure-track faculty member, whose primary responsibilities will be aligned with the College and University mission of teaching related to health, behavior and society. The faculty member will be expected to pursue activities required for promotion and tenure, including teaching, research, and service. The faculty member will negotiate a yearly distribution of effort with the Chair of the Department of Health, Behavior & Society in consultation with the Dean of the College of Public Health to ensure that adequate time and resources are available to meet both the requirements for promotion and the goals of the Department and the College. The successful candidate will also be offered the administrative position of Director of Undergraduate Studies for the Bachelor in Public Health degree.
The faculty member in this position will be the primary instructor for at least 18 student credit hours of College of Public Health courses per year, and will foster quality instruction and curriculum development. The individual will also be a member of the Graduate Faculty and will be expected to engage in applied public health research and scholarly activity. Responsibilities include:
1. Teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level. Exact teaching expectations will depend on the faculty period of assignment. For example, nine- month faculty will be expected teach 18 course hours; twelve-month faculty will be expected to teach 21-24 course hours, including summer teaching.
2. Collaboration on curriculum design activities for the department, including expansion of on-line education
3. Represent the department on college and university committees.
4. Engage in research on topical areas complementary with departmental foci, and/or pedagogical research.
5. Participate in other relevant practice and service opportunities at the local, state, and national level.
