Assistant/Associate Professor, tenure track. We are seeking applicants with research and teaching expertise in Motor Behavior. Ideally, the candidate will focus on motor behavior, investigating the learning, development, and/or control of movement or the psychology of sport and/or exercise.

Establish a successful research program leading to publications in premier refereed journals, presentations in national and international venues, and the submission of proposals for extramural funding; teach undergraduate and graduate courses in motor development/control/learning, sport/exercise psychology, as well as other areas within a kinesiology program. Additional responsibilities include recruiting, advising, and training students in the M.S. and Ph.D. degree plans in the School of Kinesiology, supervising graduate research, and contributing to service activities in the School, College, University, community, and professional organizations.

The School of Kinesiology doctoral program is ranked in the top 13 in the United States (National Academy of Kinesiology Review and Evaluation of Doctoral Programs, 2020). The School of Kinesiology’s mission is to discover, implement, and disseminate knowledge about physical activity, movement, exercise, health, and performance by engaging with our community and creating an invigorating learning environment for our students. The hired candidate will have their own dedicated lab space and, if they choose, inherit a Nirx functional near-infrared spectroscopy system, a Biodex Balance system and a Biodex isokinetic system. The School of Kinesiology offers undergraduate and master’s degrees in Exercise Science; Exercise, Performance, and Health Optimization; Physical Education Teacher Education; and a doctoral program in Kinesiology. The School of Kinesiology is starting a Doctor of Physical Therapy Program in the summer of 2025.
Auburn University is a partner of the University of Alabama at Birmingham Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS). The School of Kinesiology actively participates in several of the training programs, professional development resources, and funding mechanisms provided by the CCTS. Auburn has an MRI Research Center with the new capability to scan with a 7 Tesla for both clinical and research needs and Siemens Verio open bore 3T scanner for clinical and research use.
