Assistant or Associate Professor – Epidemiology
The Department of Epidemiology, School of Public Health at The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) invites applications for multiple full-time faculty positions, tenure earning, at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank. Applicants must hold a PhD, MD or equivalent doctoral degree, have graduate-level training in epidemiology, and have a research focus in cardiovascular epidemiology. Interest/expertise in hypertension is strongly preferred. Initial responsibilities will include establishing a research program, serving on department and university committees, and mentoring students; tenure-earning faculty members are expected to teach at least one course per year after a start-up period. Preference will be given to applicants with a strong publication record and experience submitting grants. The successful candidate will join a diverse group of faculty and will be mentored to develop an increasingly independent research portfolio.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to collaborate with several large cohort studies including the REGARDS study, CARDIA, and the Jackson Heart Study. Investigators in the UAB Departments of Epidemiology and Biostatistics lead the statistical core for the American Heart Association Health Equity Research Network to Prevent Hypertension which will provide opportunities to work with internationally renowned health equity researchers.
