A Specialist in Molecular Biology works closely with the Technical Supervisor to develop new clinical tests for molecular diagnostics, work to establish clinical research projects that allow for lab growth and can potentially involve undergraduates, process clinical specimens, prepare for and perform qualitative and quantitative measurements for lab assays, and troubleshoot and refine laboratory standard operating procedures. Molecular biology experience, particularly in tissue culture, quantitative PCR analysis, sequencing methodologies, and bioinformatics are important. The ideal candidate will have experience from their graduate studies developing, optimizing, performing, and troubleshooting molecular biology techniques. Additionally, clear communication and working well with a small team are essential skills for this position.
Processing, analyzing, and interpretation of qualitative/quantitative clinical tests and results.
Developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting established and newly-developed laboratory standard operating procedures.
Performing continual quality control of laboratory assays to ensure accurate results.
Assist the Technical Director with the preparation and updating of laboratory state and federal compliance documents.
Help to establish and maintain a research program that involves undergraduate students and graduate students.
Leverage laboratory and technical expertise to accessibly communicate laboratory processes to clients and relevant stakeholders.
