Primary Purpose

The Occupational Therapy Program Director is a faculty member and leader of a dynamic and growing graduate program and works collaboratively with the Chair of the Department of Physical and Occupational Therapy. Depending on the qualifications of the successful candidate, a non-tenure track position may be negotiable.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain ACOTE accreditation status.
  • Direct program curriculum.
  • Implement approved expansion to remote site and assist in planning for upgrade to Doctoral Program.
  • Oversee all program admissions and student promotion and retention.
  • Establish, enforce, and review all program policies and procedures and assure alignment within the university structure.
  • Oversee the program budget and set priorities through strategic planning.
  • Support faculty development in the areas of teaching, research, and service.
  • Manage and evaluate faculty and staff as assigned.
  • Teach and conduct research/scholarship in areas of expertise.

Minimum Qualifications  
  • Must hold a Clinical or Academic doctoral degree in occupational therapy or a related field awarded by an institution that is accredited by a regional accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Must be licensed or elgible for licensure as an occupational therapist in the state of Idaho.
  • At least eight (8) years of full-time experience (or equivalent) as an occupational therapist.
  • Experience must include clinical practice, administration, and scholarship.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in a full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the postsecondary level.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Clinical and/or teaching experience in the areas of pediatrics, assistive technology, and/or ergonomics.
  • Established line of research with publications and demonstrated grantsmanship.
  • Academic leadership experience including curriculum development, budgeting, program evaluation, and faculty development.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to foster and develop relationships and build consensus with the faculty and staff, as well as with local, regional and national healthcare communities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with students, patients, staff and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
