Major/Essential Functions

The Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) School of Health Professions, Department of Laboratory Sciences and Primary Care, Molecular Pathology Program invites applications from highly motivated individuals for a full-time (12 month), faculty member position on the Lubbock campus. This is a non-tenure or tenure track, assistant or associate professor position. The NAACLS-accredited TTUHSC MP Program is a 12-month, master’s-level curriculum located in Lubbock, TX with a brand-new state of the art student laboratory, providing advanced hands on learning for each student. The average class size of 28 students is one of the largest in the nation. The MP program has strong administrative support and excellent salary and benefits.

Primary responsibilities:

Teach basic and advanced molecular clinical diagnostic science courses including laboratories
Prepare and deliver instruction and assess student performance in assigned courses
Student advising and remediation in the didactic and laboratory phases of the program
Mentor student research projects including literature review, assay design and presentation
Participate in research projects, presentations, and publications
Clinical practice as part of the SHP Practice Income Plan
Participate on committees including admissions, student progression, curriculum, and self-study
Participate in university, professional, scholarly, and community service activities

Occasional Duties
Occasional responsibilities:

Engage in other activities as determined by the Department Chair or Molecular Pathology Program Director

Travel for scholarly presentations at 1-2 conferences per year may be approved

Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Molecular Pathology or Diagnostic Molecular Science from a NAACLS accredited program or related area; PhD/Doctoral Preferred
Current MB(ASCP) certification or eligible
One year of clinical molecular diagnostic laboratory experience

Teaching experience, classroom or bench

Academic degree as defined by the academic unit and as appropriate for the position held. Demonstrated record of effectiveness as a teacher, a record of peer reviewed publication and/or peer-reviewed creative activity which has contributed to the discipline or field of study, to the candidate’s intellectual and artistic development, and to the quality of the academic enterprise; a record of professional service appropriate to the discipline; promise of growth in teaching and research or artistic and creative activity

Pay Statement
Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as, the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan on the Human Resources webpage.
