We are looking for a highly motivated post-doctoral researcher to join our interdisciplinary team at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Nguyen Lab combines novel pharmaceutical sciences, engineering, bioinformatics, and drug delivery approaches to develop next-generation biotherapeutics for the treatment of cancer and heart attacks. Current projects are supported by multi-year NIH and NSF grants to develop protein- and exosome-based therapeutics for nucleic acid delivery. A post-doctoral fellow in our lab will have the opportunity to lead the development of new biotherapeutic technologies designed to modulate inflammatory responses in ischemic heart disease and cancer.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have a PhD in Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Immunology, or a related discipline.
- Be proficient in one of the following areas: protein engineering, molecular cloning, exosome engineering, or immuno-engineering. Additional expertise in mammalian cell culture, RT-PCR, western blotting, flow cytometry, and nanoparticle characterization would be welcome but is not required.
- Have strong oral and written communication skills.
- Have a growth mindset, enjoy working in a team, and be highly motivated to publish high-impact work.
The Nguyen Lab is located at The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC in Marsico Hall in the Eshelman School of Pharmacy. The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy is the top-ranked pharmacy school in the country, and the Department of Pharmacoengineering and Molecular Pharmaceutics has a unique research focus on drug delivery approaches.
