Penn State Altoona and the College of Nursing seeks applicants for a full-time Instructor or Assistant Teaching Professor in maternal newborn and pediatric nursing in the undergraduate program at Penn State Altoona. This position is a full-time, non-tenure-line, limited-term (single year), thirty-six-week appointment for spring and summer semesters, with a Spring 2022 start date.
Candidates for the position at the rank of Instructor will possess a master's degree in Nursing and eligibility for RN licensure in Pennsylvania. An earned Doctorate degree (e.g., DNP, PhD) within 5 years of hire is a condition of continued employment. Candidates for the position at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor will possess a doctorate degree (e.g., DNP, PhD) and eligibility for RN licensure in Pennsylvania. Candidates with a doctorate will be given preference.
Primary responsibilities will include coordination and instruction in adult medical-surgical and critical care nursing, including classroom, simulation lab, and clinical teaching. In addition to teaching, responsibilities include advising students, engaging in efforts to remain current in the discipline, participation in service opportunities, and scholarly activities as appropriate. Successful candidates will work collaboratively with other faculty to support our mission of ensuring the highest quality undergraduate education. Candidates must be student-centered and open to innovative program delivery using technology. Candidates will also be expected to participate in student recruitment and retention, and program assessment.
