The School of Interdisciplinary Health Professions invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor in Rehabilitation Counseling to begin August 2020.
The chosen candidate will provide clinical instruction to students engaged in clinical practicum, internship, and related coursework to support pre-professional education for rehabilitation programs. As an integral part of the graduate and undergraduate rehabilitation programs, this individual will collaborate with program faculty to advance clinical training, curricular improvements, and overall program development and assessment. In addition, the clinical assistant professor will support and supervise students in clinical research and may teach didactic courses in the individual’s area of expertise. Further, he/she will carry out his/her duties using methods consistent with the standards set forth in the accreditation and certification requirements of the Code of Professional Ethics for Rehabilitation Counselors.
This individual is the main point of contact with students, clinical sites, faculty members, and administrative staff, regarding practicum and internship activities as well as assigned didactic courses. The ability to communicate effectively and in a positive manner with internal and external partners and clients, including people of varying economic and cultural backgrounds is critical. The individual must have the ability and desire to teach clinical skills to students and work in a collegial manner with faculty and staff members.
- Provide quality clinical and administrative supervision to students enrolled in clinical; experiences as outlined by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP);
- Develop and coordinate clinical placements, and provide oversight of administrative agreements
- Develop and maintain internal clinical experiences;
- Prepare student clinical files to include documentation for CACREP accreditation (e.g., written evaluations, time logs, direct service activities);
- Provide timely updates to maintain the program’s electronic tracking system;
- Coordinate program’s professional development hours requirement;
- Assist with program admission process;
- Engage in marketing activities to promote graduate and undergraduate programs;
- Abide by program policies and procedures Serve on committees at the program, school, and other levels as appropriate;
- Actively participate in area meetings;
- Support/assist with clinical research;
- Teach graduate and undergraduate courses as assigned by the chair;
- Complete other duties as assigned.
