Overview

The Tufts University Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy is partnering with the United States Agency for International Development’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (USAID/BHA) to conduct a Food Aid Gastronomy Week event and related programming in 2023. USAID/BHA provides food assistance as part of humanitarian interventions and programs, including procuring bulk and pre-packaged food aid commodities for use in its Title II food aid and international disaster assistance programs. BHA seeks to improving familiarity with and understanding of the specific characteristics of various food aid commodities, including how they look and taste; their nutritional characteristics; how they are produced, programmed, shipped, stored, and delivered to recipients; and the partners and stakeholders involved throughout the supply chain of these lifesaving food products. The Food Aid Gastronomy Week will serve as an opportunity for U.S. government employees, industry partners, and other invited guests to interact with and learn about food aid products.


What You'll Do

The Project Administrator will provide specialized, subject matter knowledge to develop, implement, review, and evaluate the Food Aid Gastronomy Week project in collaboration with the Director and Senior Advisor, including coordinating planning meetings with USAID/BHA and partners, developing the event program, selecting a venue and procuring services, identifying speakers and participants, arranging travel, designing promotional materials, and overseeing the event on the ground in Washington, DC. The Project Administrator will have the opportunity to expand their knowledge of food aid products and U.S. humanitarian assistance programs, as well to interact with USAID staff and partners involved in food assistance and nutrition activities. The Project Administrator will participate in development of goals and strategies; develop, analyze, and monitor budgets and contracts; and participate in development and implementation of marketing and advertising efforts, including writing content for website and social media material. The Project Administrator will represent the project externally at meetings and events, draft reports, and may coordinate hiring and training of students or temporary help. This is a full-time, term-limited, grant-funded position scheduled to end on June 30, 2023, with the possibility of extension; hybrid or fully remote work is possible.

  • In collaboration with the Director, develops goals and strategies for project
  • Implements plans and evaluates progress
  • Recommends changes as necessary
  • Provides ideas and content for meetings, seminars, lectures, and other special events
  • Leads efforts in planning events, including selecting venue, developing program, identifying speakers and participants, and designing promotional materials and identifying target audience(s)
  • Oversees event on the ground in Washington, DC
  • Oversees and analyzes budgets and prepares reports and projections
  • Participates in budget development


What We're Looking For

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline and 3+ years of related experience OR Master’s degree and 1-2 years related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in related discipline and 3+ years of experience in related field of study
