This position of Assistant/Associate or Full Professor is a ranked faculty position in the College of Health & Human Services. This position is initially contracted with on an annual basis, which after three years may roll into a 3 year, renewable contract. Primary responsibility is for teaching undergraduate students assigned curriculum in accordance with the mission, core themes and values of Concordia University.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Facilitate student learning, provide effective instruction, and perform evaluations of student learning for all assigned classes, using each course’s standard course outline as a guide.
2. Adhere to and enhance provided course syllabus, curriculum, course handouts, lectures, labs, and presentations, implementing the recognized established purposes of the assigned College or School.
3. Provide subject matter expertise to support the specified academic program, ensuring that student learning outcomes are achieved and are aligned to departmental standards (college, state, and national standards).
4. Lead Clinical Nursing education as assigned, including supervising and mentoring Clinical Instructors.
5. Visit students with their clinical instructors in their clinical placements.
6. Provide prompt and meaningful feedback to students in a fair, objective and consistent manner. Use established rubrics and clear grading criteria and the Blackboard management system and Taskstream where appropriate.
7. Be available to students via email, phone, or personal conferences. The method of contact and hours of availability should be clearly communicated to supervisors and to students through the course syllabus each semester.
8. Assign grades and maintain course/student records in accordance with FERPA regulations. Submit grades and records by established deadlines.
9. Engage in meaningful service and scholarship.
10. Participate in faculty committees as appropriate.
11. Meet all classes and other scheduled responsibilities such as office hours and meetings at the designated times. (See University policy on class cancellation and sick leave.)
12. Keep a flexible weekly schedule that best facilitates student learning and access. Any changes in the scheduled class times or locations should have prior approval by the faculty’s supervisor.
13. Work collaboratively with the Program Director, faculty, staff, and students to advance the mission and academic excellence of the assigned School or College, in accordance with the mission, values and vision of CU.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Professor:

  • Doctoral degree in academic area closely related to teaching position preferred.
  • Licensed RN in the State of Oregon.
  • 10+ years experience teaching.
  • 5+ years of nursing experience.
    Associate Professor:
  • Master’s degree from an accredited university in the field of Nursing. Doctoral degree in academic area closely related to teaching position preferred.
  • Licensed RN in the State of Oregon.
  • 3+ years of nursing experience.
  • 5+ years experience teaching in a nursing program.
    Assistant Professor:
  • Master’s degree from an accredited university in the field of Nursing. Doctoral degree in academic area closely related to teaching position preferred.
  • Licensed RN in the State of Oregon.
  • 3+ years of nursing experience.
  • 2+ years experience teaching in a nursing program
