    The University of Florida Department of Health Outcomes and Biomedical Informatics in the College of Medicine seeks to hire a Director of the Division of Health Outcomes and Implementation Science at the level of Associate or Full Professor. We are seeking a researcher with a strong background in the areas of: (1) development, testing of, evaluation and/or implementation of evidenced-based health interventions to promote health and health outcomes across the lifespan in diverse community or clinical practice settings; and/or (2) comparative effectiveness research and pragmatic clinical trials related to health promotion and disease prevention at the individual, community, health care delivery system, and/or policy level. In addition, we are seeking a visionary, dynamic individual who can lead this Division as it contributes to the continued growth of the Department.

    The Department of Health Outcomes and Biomedical Informatics is comprised of: the Division of Health Outcomes and Implementation Science and the Division of Biomedical Informatics. The two divisions are collaborative and synergistic with research focused on risk reduction, cancer prevention and early detection, implementation science, novel data linkage methods, ontology, and the use of big data to address a range of health outcomes particularly among vulnerable populations. The Department fosters collaborative relationships with investigators across diverse disciplines, including pediatrics, medicine, biomedical informatics, molecular biology, epidemiology, genetics, psychiatry, behavioral medicine, and health services and outcomes research. The Department works closely with the Institute for Child Health Policy, Clinical and Translational Science Institute, Department of Pediatrics, Department of Medicine, the UFHealth Cancer Center, and the Institute on Aging. The Department, with 23 full‐time faculty members and over 100 professional and support staff, provides an exceptional research environment with over $30M annually in extramural funding. The Department is also integrally involved in the University‐wide NIH Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) Program and is specifically responsible for the Learning Health System initiative in collaboration with UF Health. The Department houses health care claims and encounter, registry, electronic health record and patient reported outcome data across a range of adult and pediatric populations. The Department also is linked to the Institute for Child Health Policy, which focuses on risk assessment, prevention, quality of care, and health outcomes for children and youth. The environment provides exciting opportunities to develop multidisciplinary and translational collaborations across the lifespan.

    Qualifications

    Candidates should have a doctoral degree in an appropriate area (PhD in a health science discipline such as health services research, economics, public health, psychology, or other appropriate health or social science discipline or MD with research training), an excellent record of scholarly publication, an independent program of extramurally‐funded research or demonstrated ability to develop such a program, including evidence of interdisciplinary, interagency, and/or international collaboration. Knowledge and experience in implementation science, health outcomes, and research design and methods, are required. Participation in the Department’s educational mission, including teaching and mentoring, and University service are also expected and valued. Leadership experience or potential is preferred.
