    As a national collegiate leader, UC Berkeley's University Health Services (UHS) provides comprehensive medical, mental health, insurance and health promotion services to all Berkeley students, and a variety of health programs for faculty and staff. Approximately 65,000 visits occur annually including Primary Care, Urgent Care, Occupational Health and Specialty Clinics. Services are designed to minimize the impact of illness, emotional distress and injury on studies and work.     Responsibilities

    This position provides direct behavioral health assessment, intervention, and case management within fast-paced Primary and Urgent Care clinics to optimize whole-person health and wellness that supports the academic success of a highly diverse, multicultural student population. Working collaboratively with colleagues from diverse clinical training backgrounds, performs psychological evaluation, diagnosis, psychoeducation, counseling and case management with individuals across a broad spectrum of developmental and psychological concerns that may affect physical, academic and personal functioning. Also may perform one or more of the following functions: Uses and interprets educational, vocational and psychological tests; provides clinical supervision of professional graduate-level trainees. Licensed as a Psychologist in California or works under the supervision of a licensed professional.

    Key Responsibilities:

    [*] Performs assessment, diagnosis, behavioral interventions, motivational interviewing, brief psychotherapy and case management on a full range of cases including crisis counseling and high-risk concerns. Works collaboratively with primary and urgent care providers, clinic nurses, medical assistants, and individuals from other clinical units to provide culturally competent care for a diverse student population. Professionally responsible for the soundness and validity of recommendations, services, and referrals but is expected to seek advice from senior specialists on unusual or uniquely complex client responses or on problems outside their area of expertise. Maintains a visible presence during clinic operating hours and provides timely feedback to referring clinical providers. Provides in-person and virtual counseling and consultation services.
    [*] Gathers, analyzes, prepares, summarizes and monitors the status and progress of individual cases and projects and may participate in the training of lower-level professionals and paraprofessionals. Maintains current knowledge of University Health Services, campus, and community resources. Implements related business processes.
    [*] Participation in UHS committees, interdisciplinary teams, and program development to enhance service delivery and quality assurance.

    [*] Staff Development - includes work on committees and assignments that enable the staff member to stretch and grow, along with formal and informal coaching and mentoring and regular training, including conference attendance.[/list]

    Required Qualifications
    [list]
    [*] Strong knowledge and experience with providing psychological diagnoses, brief interventions, and case management services to university students.
    [*] Able to rapidly provide these services while working in a fast-paced environment where interruptions may be frequent and task-shifting is required.
    [*] Broad skills and competencies associated with providing multicultural counseling services and experience serving communities underserved in mental health care.
    [*] Strong familiarity with a wide range of psychological interventions including Motivational Interviewing.
    [*] Experience and ability to work as a member of a clinical team with diverse clinical training.
    [*] Maintains an intervention focus oriented by client goals including harm reduction.
    [*] Highly effective interpersonal skills and an ability to work in a highly collaborative manner.
    [*] Flexibility and willingness to accommodate client needs and colleague requests for support. Comfortable with a varied clinical schedule.
    [*] Thorough knowledge of applicable laws and standards of professional conduct.
    [*] Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    [*] Thorough knowledge of diagnostic/psychological testing methodologies.
    [*] Ability to conduct complex analysis, develop and present recommendations/courses of treatment.
    [*] Experience in the use of electronic/medical records systems and high level of computer literacy.[/list]

    Education:

    [*] Doctorate in clinical psychology or counseling and completion of an APA-approved doctoral program and doctoral internship.[/list]

    Preferred Qualifications

    [*] Experience providing behavioral health interventions in a medical setting.
    [*] Three years experience providing mental health care to university students.
