Speech Language Pathology (12 Month Clinical Faculty Position) - to teach a range of undergraduate, MA and doctoral courses in the field of communication sciences and disorders, including coursework in our clinical doctorate (SLPD) program. Program need is for expertise in 1) neurogenic language disorders in adults; 2) motor based speech and voice disorders in children and adults; and 3) speech and hearing science and their application to clinical practice, but other areas may be considered. Clinical Faculty responsibilities are required of this position.
Qualifications: Doctoral degree (ex. SLPD, Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Communication Sciences and Disorders or the equivalent; current CCC-SLP; and current New Jersey State licensure is required. Applicants who have CCC-SLP certification but are not licensed in New Jersey will be considered and if hired, must apply for and receive New Jersey licensure prior to September 1, 2024. Experience with university-level teaching; an established research agenda; a demonstrated ability and experience in guiding student research; and a demonstrated ability to perform other duties associated with university faculty positions is preferred. Recent graduates and ABD candidates will be considered with degree completion by September 1, 2023. A robust research agenda, past and future, is highly desired.
This position is a 12-month, full-time, tenure-track assignments at the rank of Assistant effective for the Fall 2023 semester. Teaching assignments and related responsibilities may include day, evening, weekend and online courses. Evening hours are required for teaching graduate course assignments. Courses may be taught at the Union campus, Kean Ocean, Kean Skylands or other locations.
All tenure-track faculty are expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and an on-going program of research and publication or creative and performance activity. Participation in curriculum development, student advisement and service at the departmental/school, college, university and community level is also required. Interest or experience in using advanced instructional technologies to improve the teaching/learning process is highly desirable. Proficiency in a Learning Management System is required, consistent with University guidelines.
