    Job Description


    The Center for Movement, Health & Disability, in the Department of Human Movement Studies and Special Education, at Old Dominion University invites applicants for a Research Assistant Professor of Movement, Health, & Disability to begin in Fall 2025. This is a 10-month appointment. This position will be situated within the Center for Movement, Health, & Disability (CMHD), with duties that include developing and maintaining a nationally/ internationally visible research program, and seeking, applying for, and procuring external grant funding to support the mission and vision of the CMHD. The successful candidate will work closely with the CMHD directors to pursue external grant funding and develop a sustained grant portfolio that will in part support this position.


    Minimum required education and/or special licenses, registrations, trainings, or certifications


    The successful applicant must have a doctoral degree (ABD with a completion date prior to July 15th, 2025 considered) in Adapted Physical Activity or a closely related field.

     


    Preferred Qualifications


    • Strong record of published scholarly articles in recognized journals.

    • A well-defined research expertise within fields related to movement, health, and disability.

    • Experiences of mentoring/co-mentoring graduate students in adapted physical activity or closely related area.

    • Established external grant procurement record to support research and/or graduate student training.
