    Job Purpose


    The MLS Department is actively seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Professor willing to be involved in the laboratory instructional and research activities of the Department. The selected candidate will be involved mainly in teaching practical courses in the area of Hematology and Blood Banking, Phlebotomy, Histopathological techniques and Advanced Laboratory Techniques. Additionally the candidate may assist in general and shared courses.


    Main accountabilities & expectations



    • Teach the laboratory practical courses in the field of Medical Laboratory Sciences/Biomedical Sciences, including Hematology and Blood Banking, Phlebotomy, Histopathological techniques and Advanced Laboratory Techniques. Additionally the candidate may assist in general and shared courses.

    • Active participation in tutoring and supervising undergraduate and graduate students.

    • Develop and run a dynamic research program including the preparation of  research proposals, securing intramural as well as extramural research funds, and conducting innovative research work in their area of interest.

    • Actively participate in both programs and curriculum development, as well as in the program accreditation process.

    • Advise and follow up with students' academic and registration issues.

    • Carry out other academic and administrative duties at both departmental and college levels as deemed necessary by his/her immediate superiors. 


    Required Skills



    • Clinical diagnostic experience in the area of Hematology and Blood Banking, Phlebotomy, Histopathological techniques.

    • Solid track of scholarly activities (research, publications, grant acquisitions, supervision/mentoring of graduate students, etc.), evidenced by number of publications in high quality journals and a high H index.

    • Significant teaching record at both undergraduate and graduate level in the area of Hematology and Blood Banking, Phlebotomy, Histopathological techniques.

    • Knowledge and experience in Bioinformatics and analyzing Big Data in medical research using  Artificial Intelligence is a plus.

    • ASCPi is a plus​.

    • PhD in Medical Laboratory Sciences / Biomedical Sciences with a specialization on hematology, blood banking, and/or histopathology from a reputable institution of higher education.

    • Two years of practical laboratory experience in hematology, blood banking at a reputable institution.
