    Job Description


    The Associate Dean of Academic Affairs for Nursing at the Ellmer School of Nursing (EsoN) at Old Dominion University provides leadership, management, and oversight of all academic degree programs and certificates across undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels, and various instructional modalities. This role requires collaboration with faculty and program directors to ensure academic excellence and compliance with accreditation standards, as well as representing the school in health sciences, university-wide, and state/national arenas related to nursing education.

    Minimum required education and/or special licenses, registrations, trainings, or certifications


    An earned doctorate in nursing or a related field with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in nursing with unencumbered nursing license

    Minimum required level and type of experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities


     

    1. A distinguished record of teaching, research/scholarship, and professional service.

    2. Expertise in curriculum development and teaching, preferably at all three levels (BSNMSN, and Doctorate) in academic nursing.

    3. Experience in academic program evaluation, including meeting accreditation standards.

    4. Qualifications commensurate with appointment as a Tenured Associate or Full Professor.

    • Strong leadership skills, including organization, pro-activeness, problem-solving, and conflict resolution. Ability to use data/evidence for decision-making, receptiveness to diverse ideas and constructive feedback, high work ethics, and accountability.
