The College of Nursing at the University of Illinois Chicago is one of the premier nursing schools in the nation, with four degree programs ranked in the top 15 by U.S. News & World Report and a research enterprise ranked No. 9 for NIH funding among U.S. nursing schools. Duties & Responsibilities:

• Teaching: Clinical Associates/Instructors teach at the undergraduate level. Undergraduate teaching consists of giving traditional classroom lectures, seminars, online/distance learning, and simulation-based education as well as supervising small groups for clinical instruction and precepting. Clinical Associates/Instructors also participate in scholarly activities (e.g., developing evidence-based learning objectives and tools).


• Scholarship/Research: Evidence of scholarly activities includes giving conference presentations, writing practice- and education-focused publications, and participating in clinical guideline development. Nursing scholarship spans broad content areas and diverse methodological designs, including those associated with the biological and social sciences as well as the humanities.


• Practice/Service: Clinical Associates/Instructors contribute to the service mission of the university, commensurate with their percent of allocated time. Service activities are conducted in a culturally safe manner that demonstrates value for the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice. Participation may include service at local, regional, national, and international levels (e.g., membership in professional organizations, representation on clinical practice committees, and practice in area of specialization).

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum education is a master’s degree in nursing.


• Candidates should demonstrate teaching and clinical experience and be licensed registered nurses in Illinois (or be eligible for an Illinois license).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Teaching experience in health professions preferred.


• Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP or Adult-Gerontology Primary Care NP board certified preferred.
