    Description:


    The Shimamura Lab in the Department of Surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago focuses on studying the functional and clinical impact of GPCRs and tyrosine kinases in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow who is interested in translational lung cancer research. We have shown that GPCRs are a new target in overcoming acquired drug resistance in highly heterogenous NSCLC (Soucheray et al. Can Res 2015, Becker et al, Can Res 2019, and Pulido et al, Can Res 2020). The postdoctoral fellow will study the molecular biology of GPCR and cancer heterogeneity using a variety of preclinical models including patient-derived materials, cancer cell lines, and in vivo models (mice). This is a NIH and DoD supported position. This position is available immediately.

    Key Responsibilities/Duties:



    • Work collaboratively with principal Investigator, other researchers, and key personnel to meet research objectives.

    • Collect, analyze, and interpret scientific data.

    • Maintain lab notebook with recorded data.

    • Disseminate original research results in peer-review journals and present the findings at national/international scientific conferences.


    Qualifications:



    • Ph.D. and/or M.D.

    • Highly motivated and works independently. 

    • The candidate with strong skills handling mice is preferred.

    • The candidate should be adequate in conventional molecular biology techniques and excellent in writing and verbal communication skills in English. 



    Position will start hourly for initial period of three months. Opportunity for Postdoctoral Research Associate will be considered during the initial 3 month period.
