    The Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion within the College of Education at the University of Kentucky is seeking candidates for a Lecturer (non-tenure eligible) position, effective August 16, 2024. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.


    The flagship university of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, the University of Kentucky is home to more than 30,000 students and nearly 3,000 faculty members. Located in Lexington, the Horse Capital of the World, UK is a major employer in the small city of approximately 315,000. The Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion (KHP), housed in the College of Education, is comprised of 26 full-time faculty members, and offers undergraduate, masters, and doctoral programs in the academic areas of exercise science, physical education, health promotion, and sport leadership. KHP serves as the academic focus for more than 1,000 undergraduate and graduate students.

     

    Job Responsibilities: Pursue excellence in teaching and service. Successful candidates will beexpected to: 1.) teach a four-three course load each academic year consisting of primarilyundergraduate courses serving most of our KHP majors and minors; 2.) provide support andadvise students across departmental undergraduate programs; 3.) provide service to thedepartment, College, and University of Kentucky.

    Courses to be taught may include: KHP 210 - Fitness Conditioning, KHP 230 - Human Health &Wellness, KHP 240 - Nutrition and Physical Fitness, KHP 280 - Introduction to Coaching, KHP350 - Strength & Conditioning for Sports, KHP 450 - Exercise Testing and Prescription, orother courses as assigned.

    Lecturers within the KHP Department are highly valued, significantly contribute to teaching andservice within the program, and serve in important leadership and supportive roles within the
    department.
