Alex Martins' research focuses in bioethics and health equalities in global and public health. His scholarship has been interdisciplinary in which he has engaged in ethics, theology, and health care through a dialogue with anthropology, philosophy, epidemiology, and medical science, especially engaging with marginalized voices and addressing issues from the perspective of the poor. Currently, Alex is working on experiences of community-based practices led by health workers from impoverished communities in Latin America. He is interested in how these grassroots initiatives have contributed to health care delivery and advocacy for systems that offer health care as a human right.
